[Machine Learning] Discriminative vs Generative Models

I’m starting a series of KISS articles about random things I happened to stamble upon a very simple way to explain it, at least to me.

Just to show the difference between this 2 approaches, here is a generative model (with Gaussian approximation) and a discriminative model (I could’ve drawn discriminant function and “underlying true distributions” but it would’ve been bloated) both used for classification:
